Mount Emei

Come to Mount Emei to burn incense and pray for it! It is one of the four major Buddha Mountains, and also the Taoist temple of the Samantabhadra Bodhisattva. The numerous temples in the mountains make this place full of Buddha’s breath. Perhaps because of the aura, the scenery in the mountain is also very beautiful, and the four seasons have beautiful views. In addition, the monkey group in the mountains is famous for being fierce.

Emei Mountain Scenic Area is divided into three areas of low, medium and high area depending on the altitude. Below the Qingyin Pavilion is the low mountainous area with dense vegetation and a climate which is similar to that of the plain; from the Qingyin Pavilion to the Xixiang Pool, it is the medium District; and above the Xixiang Pool, it is the high District, where warm clothing is required on the mountain. The main temples and attractions in the mountain are: Baoguo Temple, Fuhu Temple, Qingyin Pavilion, Hongchunping, Golden peak temple and so on.

There are two main ways to play in Mount Emei: walking and riding. If you are hiking on foot all the way, it takes about 2-3 days. It is easy to travel by car, and it is enough to go back and forth within 1 day, but you will miss some classic scenery.

Special Notes:

  1. Monkeys in the monkey area will grab the food and water of the tourists. Therefore, your backpack zipper should be pulled, and do not take food and water bottles in your hand.
  2. It is recommended to buy a bamboo pole under the mountain, which can be used as a walking stick, and can also be used to drive away the monkeys who are rushing to eat (just waving to deter monkeys, and cannot really beat the monkeys, otherwise, if the monkeys are annoyed, the consequences are very serious).
  3. Between the section of Thin strip of sky, ninety-nine roads and Xixiang pool and the Leidongping section, the mountain road is difficult and dangerous to walk. Follow the principle of “walking without watching the scenery, watching the scenery without walking” and do remember to keep safe.
